What is remy hair?

The hair is tied in one direction, harvested and the result is unstripped hair with its cuticle intact. Hair that is collected at random, not keeping track of the natural direction will tangle when it gets wet, not so with remy hair. Why does non-cuticle, non-virgin store bought hair not last as long as PlatinumEx Hair?
The term "cuticle hair" can be very deceiving. It was originally intended to mean the hair had retained its same cuticle direction. This is no longer the case, with many hair companies. To begin with the hair looks nice; but not as healthy and shiny as our premium virgin hair. The hair goes through an acid bath process to strip the cuticle and then a silicone layer is applied to give it shine and softness.  However, after a few washes the silicon layer starts to wash away. Then quickly the hair becomes duller and loses its sheen. It becomes brittle and starts to break and shed and any cuticle originally covered by the silicon will become exposed and present a real threat of tangling and matting with your own hair and with every wash this condition will become worse. That's why this hair does not last long. Our hair is has it's full cuticles intact giving it a natural look, feel, movement, versatility and longer lasting! What do the terms "bulk" and "wefted" mean?
Bulk hair is loose hair that is used for braiding and many other hair extention styles. We deliver it tied in a bundle ready for use. Wefted hair is hair used for weaving. It is sewn or bonded (with hair glue) into a track ready for the weaving process. Back to TOP

What is the difference between hand tied wefts and machine wefts?
Hand tied wefts are done by hand and are much thinner then machine wefts. They will lay flat against your scalp to give you a more natural look and significantly reduce hair bumps caused by bulky wefts . This allows the hair to flow much more freely and provide a lot of body. Hand tied weft and machine weft is for weaving only. Although, some have tried to use the hand-tied hair to bond it on, but due to their small weft it is very difficult to apply the bonding glue onto the track without getting it on the hair. What is the difference between single drawn and double drawn hair?
We sell the remy double drawn hair. The difference is below.

Single Drawn - Remy
Single Drawn hair is hackled and trimmed on one side. Taken from one donor. All the hair is in one direction, i.e. all the roots will be at one end of the processed bundle. This high quality process allows for a very small percentage of hair to be outside the specified length of the bundle.This processing keeps the hair from tangling after it is bleached or dyed. This is very popular in Europe with the high quality hair extension who prefer this type of processing for their products.This hair is collected from Temples (particularly ladies hair).

Double Drawn - Remy
Double Drawn hair is hackled and trimmed on both sides and it will have uniform sizes. Taken from one donor. This can be prepared from Temple cut hair, which is remy. Back to TOP

What hair weft types do you carry?
We carry machine wefts, hand-tied wefts and skin/seamless wefts.

What is pre-tipped hair used for?
Pre-tipped hair is used for any strand by strand hair extention method; such as fusion, micro links, mini links, hair locs, and much more. Back to TOP

What types of hair care products should I use?
Moisture is the most important thing. Please do not use products for oily hair or strippers that take out chlorine or product build up. These leave the hair dry. Use styling products that are zero or low alcohol. Spray in conditioners and glossifiers are wonderful for the ends. Back to TOP

How long will the hair last?

Can I swim and go in the ocean?
You may go in swimming pools and hot tubs. It is best to wash hair right after swimming. Avoid getting hair in salt water as the salt can take all the moisture out of the hair and it tangle. Never braid your hair and go in salt water. It is best to wear it down. Add a spray in conditioner after swimming. Back to TOP
